Patience and Fortitude

We were patient, and now they’re fortified. The New York Public Library’s famous stone lions, Patience and Fortitude, return to the public eye today after being restored and repaired. The big cats, who have guarded the main branch at 42nd Street at Fifth Avenue since 1911, enjoyed “the full spa treatment” over the past two months, according to NYPL President Anthony Marx. The $270,000 tab was covered by grants and donations.
